New York based, drummer, vocalist and composer Karina Colis was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Karina has been performing extensively in Mexico, the US, South America, Europe, Asia, and in the Middle East with distinctive projects that range from Latin music, jazz, world to fusion.

Karina has appeared in more than one hundred radio stations and TV programs worldwide such as CNN International, UNIVISION (US/ Latin America), The Telegraph (India), La Reforma (Mexico City), WGBH, MTV ( with Gregorio Uribe Big Band), The Rolling Stone (Argentina), Paris DJ (France), All About Jazz (NY), to name a few. 


Karina graduated summa cum laude from Berklee College of Music and some of her highlight performances include international festivals and venues such as the Calcutta Jazz Festival in India with renowned guitarist Prasanna Ramaswamy; the International Montreal Jazz Festival in Canada; Mexico City "Vive Latino"; the Fusion Festival  in Germany, the Primavera Festival in Spain, the International Folk Festival in Argentina, the New Morning and Babel Fest in France (with Chicha Libre), and Virada Cultural  in Brazil, an open air festival with an audience of 300,000 people, Circuit in Bahrain in the Middle East, (Calpulli Danza Mexicana), The Beantown Jazz Fest and the New Haven Jazz Festival where with Mango Blue, she opened for vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater, sharing the stage with acclaimed Mexican drummer Antonio Sanchez.
