Nuyorican show - November 6, 2007
Hey everyone,
CoCoMaMa would like to thank all of you who came out
to our debut last Thursday @ the Nuyorican! What a
great turnout! We'd also like to thank Steve Pouchie
and Kevin who came out to videotape the performance.
We should have that up on the website in a few
weeks.We would especially like to thank Chembo Corniel
who gave us the date to play at the Nuyorican! You
couldn't ask for a better friend. You're the bomb
Chembo! And Julio, we are all glad you were so happy
with the whole night! You rock!
So, now on to the performance. I feel so honored and
priviledged to be playing with musicians of this
caliber not only musically but the kind of people you
all are. You can't get better than playing with great
musicians who are also wonderful people. These kinds
of nights makes musicians feel like all the dumb gigs
where no one listens to you, and years of practice,
stressing to get to the gig on time with horrible
traffic, and so on, is all worth it. It's great when
it all comes together! We have been rehearsing
seriously since January and will continue to do so to
get the band as tight as possible. Nicki has been
writing some great arrangements as well as tap dancing
which is just amazing! Mayra, our conguera, sang a
beautiful guajira even though she wasn't feeling
great-
Claudette, one of our singers, came up with a killin'
rap for one of the songs and she just nailed it
onstage. Everyone is so talented in this band. Just
wait because there are many, many other surprises to
come. So, we'll be at Sweet Ryhthm tomorrow evening
launching a new series targeted at the after work
crowd. We have a wonderfully supportive new liquor
company sponsoring us called CMC spirits and of
course, James from Sweet Rhythm. So, that's it for
now. We hope to see you soon at one of our gigs! -Andrea
